Google Analytics is the Web Analytics tool offered by Google that used to track and collect the report of your website traffic. For the website owner and bloggers, Google Analytics is the important tool to track the traffic source and it is a FREE tool.
Step by Step Beginner’s Guide to create Google Analytics account
Go to https://www.google.com/analytics/ and click sign up to create Google Analytics for your website. You can use your Gmail account to sign up Google Analytics.
Once signed up, enter the account name, website URL, Categories, timezone etc as required and click Get Tracking ID.
Then you need to agree with terms and conditions of Google.
Once you agreed, get tracking ID and tracking script for your website.
Then, you need to paste this tracking script to the header section of all the pages in your website. Instead of pasting the tracking script in all the pages you may use the WordPress plugin to add the tracking script automatically whenever you create the new pages as well as your existing pages. To install Google Analytics plugin, Login to your WordPress account and go to Plugin -> Add New. Then, search Google Analytics in the search box. There is numerous free plugin available in WordPress. You install any one of the plugins based on the reviews. For my site, I’m going to install Google Analytics Dashboard for WP (GADWP) plugin which has 1+ million active installs.
Then you need to verify your account to configure your Google Analytics account with this plugin. Click Authorize Plugin to get the access code.
Once you clicked, you need to allow this plugin to access your Gmail account.
Then, you can get your access code as shown in below screenshot.
Copy this access code and paste it to Google Analytics Dashboard for WP (GADWP) plugin in WordPress as shown in below screenshot and click Save Access Code.
Now you can see that your Google Analytics account successfully configured with this plugin. You can check that Tracking ID in my Google Analytics account as same as shown in this plugin. Then, click save changes.
Now you created Google Analytics account for your website and installed Google Analytics Dashboard for WP (GADWP) plugin for automatic placement of your tracking script in all the pages in your website. Now, Google Analytics will track all the pages and you can start track and collect the report of your website traffic.
